Nicky's Sweeet 16

My Baby Girl Turns 16!!!!!!!!

On Wed. May 11,  we spent a lovely day at the Nicky's favourite beach: Playa Grande and had a beautiful dinner with our good friends, the Martinsens at Brasilito beach.  The restaurant is located right on the sand and started with a bowl of flowers that we had to wash our hands in first, followed by a Mariachi Band and then the grand finale, was Mom's Decadent Chocolate Layer Cake ---MMMMMMMM!!!!!

We hosted a SECOND Tico party with all our good friends, mostly Spanish, which took place on the Friday.  It was a very special evening where mom and dad worked very hard buying all the local chickens, doing a huge bbq, setting up all the decorations and making everything perfect .  We swam, ate, did the Paniata and of course more cake - this time compliments of Tara - her best fudge cake.

MOM'S CLOSING THOUGHTS:

What can I say about my first born, baby girl , turning 16.   I can remember each detail of that day when she entered this world.  She could not wait to jump into our arms.  A few hours of hard labour, no epidural either, and 15 minutes of pushing, and there she was.  My adorable little girl, all covered in hair, who I thought for sure was a boy all along.  But it took only a second to hold her in my arms and look at her in total disbelief that this is my child, my very own flesh and blood and I fell madly, crazy in love with her.   Life has never been the same without her and as my best friend, Al's mom once said to me:
" Babies have a way of filling a hole that you never ever knew existed"
No one ever told me however, that time passes so fast , that if you blink an eye, they grow up right in front of you and before you know it, you are celebrating their 16th Birthday!!!
All I Can say is that after experiencing her big accident and knowing she is safe and well, you become filled with gratitude that your child is healthy and of course we can only pray that God keeps our children safe and protected while teaching them the many life lessons they need to learn.
AMEN
